The actual quality of Kraken Kratom is pretty good – but you do have to consume more to get the same effects as smaller servings from Happy Hippo.

While the selection of actual Kratom strains is smaller, Kraken Kratom does have a decent selection of Kratom extracts and “enhanced” Kratom products.
Value and Price
I was confused by the overpricing of products on the Kraken website. Therefore, the price is either reasonable or outrageous depending on what you are looking for.
A pro about ordering from Kraken is they offer free shipping on all orders – which can be hard to come by. But if you plan your orders strategically to where you don’t need it immediately, this could be a great option for some customers.
Ease of Ordering from the Website
Kraken Kratom’s website is nicely laid out and fairly easy to use, on both desktop and mobile.
Customer Service
A pro about Kraken Kratom’s customer service is they have a phone line you can call if that is what you prefer. 9-5 EST, Monday – Friday!
Other Offerings
Kraken Kratom has some unique products in addition to their Kratom powder and capsules. These include a branded pre-workout supplement, tea tablets and softgels.
While these products are very interesting in theory, they are quite spendy, so they may be considered more of a delicacy than an everyday pick-me-up.

A basic quality assessment on Kraken Kratom would be that their Kratom was okay for the price.
Golden Monk
Quality of Kratom
While the quality is clean and safe, there have been reports of Golden Monk being inconsistent with their Kratom. When you purchase lower priced Kratom that is of higher-quality – it’s great! But when you receive your order and it just doesn’t do the trick… that’s valuable money wasted.
Variety of Kratom Strains
Golden Monk has a wide variety of strains – although they do not carry Yellow vein Kratom strains, and this color of strain is one of my favorites!
This vendor carries White vein, Green vein, and Red vein varieties of the most popular strains.
Value and Price
Golden Monk is also certified through the American Kratom Association for GMP standards – and their packaging is clean and very professional looking. The pricing of their Kratom is more affordable than most vendors, as you can get a Kilo for under $100.
However, like I explained above, it’s sort of a gambling game with Golden Monk; you could receive high quality Kratom for a cheaper price, or you could receive an unsatisfactory product. Thankfully, Golden Monk seems to have a lenient Return Policy, but we’ll discuss their Customer Service concerns below.
Ease of Ordering from the Website
Something to appreciate about Golden Monk’s website is that it has a very simple navigation bar. It is not crowded with tabs that aren’t relevant to the everyday customer; nonetheless, Golden Monk does not provide any benefits such as Kratom education or a Rewards program.
Customer Service
When searching for additional reviews on this Kratom company it seems as though customers have repeatedly bashed Golden Monk’s customer service. After receiving the wrong package, orders going missing, or packages showing up late and damaged – Golden Monk’s customer service has reportedly been lacking. For me, this is a dealbreaker.

If your goal is to buy Kratom powder or Kratom capsules, Golden Monk is a solid Kratom vendor to choose from. Unfortunately, they do not offer any extracts or alternative herbs on their site, so you would have to shop elsewhere if that is your preference.
Overall Thoughts on Golden Monk
Because Golden Monk has gained a decent reputation over the years, you can expect that most of the time you will receive quality Kratom from this vendor. On the other hand, Golden Monk seems to be inadequate in other areas, making it only a stable backup option.
Kratom Spot

The quality of Kratom Spot’s Kratom is decent – it is actually hard to find a bad review online about this Kratom Company. The Kratom Powder seems to have a more gritty texture than other brands, and taking more per serving is almost necessary to feel the right effects.
Variety of Kratom Strains
Kratom Spot has many strains to choose from in many different forms! However, like Golden Monk, they do not carry yellow vein Kratom strains.
They do have enhanced Kratom powder, which is interesting but also worrisome. They seem to be marketing their higher quality powder as an “extract”, even though it says in the fine print they did not use an extraction method. This either means they have some additive to make it stronger, or it is just plain powder at a higher price.
Value and Price
While their product packaging is done very well, their pricing is too high. The sample pack they offer is $99.99! Happy Hippo carries sample packs for as low as $10.
Even if the sizes are bigger on Kratom Spot’s Sample Pack, why would you want to order a larger size in something that you are only trying anyway?

Kratom Spot’s website is impressive – they seem to have a very professionally built site that is easy to navigate.
Customer Service
A pro about Kratom Spot is they do offer a “100% satisfaction or your money back!” While I’m not sure what this entails, it is very promising.
They also have phone line support for contact so that you can speak with someone directly about your issue, no waiting for an email back!
Other Offerings
Kratom Spot has a decent variety of strains, but they lack in extra products. They seem to have the basic items that Kratom customers look for: Kratom Powder, Kratom Extracts, Kratom Capsules, and Kratom Energy Shots.
Unfortunately, this would not be a great vendor to expand and explore other products with.
Overall Thoughts on Kratom Spot
The quality of Kratom Spot’s powder and extracts are very good nonetheless, however they are more spendy. My favorite item from them is their Kratom Energy Shots, although I treat them more as a novelty than an every day pick-me-up.

The quality of Kratom Crazy Kratom has been decent in the past, but reviews say they are inconsistent with their product.

Value and Price
Kratom Crazy is a better option for people who prefer to buy in bigger quantities for a lower price – because they do have a minimum purchase size.

Unfortunately, Kratom Crazy had to cease operations recently. There is talk that supposedly they were making claims about their product that was highly unwarranted by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).

Choosing the Best Kratom Vendor: Why is Buying From a Reputable Kratom Vendor Important?
For convenience, someone might go to a nearby smoke shop or gas station and pick up some capsules, (we’ve all been there).
The issue with buying cheap, carelessly thrown together Kratom, is that most users have a bad first experience and decide to never give it another try.
High-quality Kratom packaged in a GMP-certified lab is well worth your money and the short wait to get it delivered to you. Never again will I resort to gas-station Kratom!
What I Looked For in a Quality Kratom Vendor

This is the bare minimum, folks.
As mentioned above, finding Kratom that has been sterilized and packaged in a GMP facility is well worth the money. Because Kratom is not regulated by the FDA, there are vendors that do not test their Kratom for pathogens before selling it to the public.

Everything else that someone may look for in a Kratom vendor is a matter of budget and values. Some people may be turned away from vendors with higher prices, but just remember high-quality Kratom does NOT come cheap! If it’s cheap in price, chances are it’s cheap in quality too.

Not only is it important to make sure the product you’re purchasing is safe and contaminant-free, but you also want to make sure it resonates well!

If a vendor is using these claims, they are not abiding by the FDA’s rules and regulations and they probably think using those claims will bring them more business. If the product is good, they don’t need to be making claims like such! Quality products should sell themselves.

Is There a Kratom Ban in the United States?
There is not a federal ban on the purchase or unsupervised use of Kratom in the U.S. Currently, the FDA has an import alert on Kratom, with the ability to seize all dietary supplements that contain Kratom without physical examination. Argentina
Kratom was labeled as a narcotic drug in Argentina under Decree 69/2017, making it an illegal substance in the country.
Australia
The sale, use, and possession of Kratom were completely banned by the Australian Drug and Poisons Schedule Committee, which classified Kratom as a schedule 9, narcotic substance. Kratom use or possession may be approved for clinical research.
Belarus
The main compounds in Kratom, mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine, are specifically illegal in Belarus under the Republican List of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and their Precursors and labeled as psychotropic substances.
Bulgaria
According to the Journal of Forensic Sciences, kratom is an illegal or controlled substance — typically meaning its use requires a prescription from a physician — in Bulgaria.
Croatia
Kratom, as well as mitragynine, are specifically listed on the Croatian Ministry of Health’s directoryof drugs, psychotropic substances, and plants from which drugs can be obtained and substances that can be used in the manufacturing of drugs, making possession, distribution, and cultivation of Kratom illegal in Croatia.
Denmark
Denmark added Kratom to its Executive Order on Narcotics in 2008, making it a criminal offense to import, export, sell, purchase, distribute, receive, produce, process and possess in a country. Medical prescriptions may be exempt from this executive order.
Estonia
Mitragynine, which is one of Kratom’s main compounds, is listed as a narcotic under Regulation 73, making Kratom an illegal substance in Estonia.
Finland
Kratom is listed on Finland’s Government Decree on psychoactive substances banned from the consumer market, making it illegal to sell or purchase within the country.
France
Kratom, mitragynine, and 7-hydroxymitragynine were all added to France’s list of psychotropic substances under decree 23, established in 2019. This prohibits trade and possession of Kratom and substances possessing mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine.
Germany
The Journal of Forensic Sciences states that Kratom and its compounds are either illegal or controlled substances in Germany.
Ireland
Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine are classified as a Schedule 1 controlled drug under S.I. No. 173/2017 – Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2017, effectively making kratom illegal in the country.
Indonesia
Despite being one of the countries of origin — and one of the largest distributors of Kratom to the rest of the world — Indonesia is facing local use and distribution bans on Kratom, due to concerns over its alkaloid compounds.
Israel
According to the Journal of Forensic Sciences, Israel is a country where Kratom is either illegal or a controlled substance.
Italy
Kratom was added to Italy’s table containing the indication of narcotic and psychotropic substancesby the Italian minister of health in 2016, making it subject to the country’s drug regulation laws.
Latvia
Kratom was added to Latvia’s Regulations Regarding Narcotic Substances, Psychotropic Substances and Precursors to be controlled in Latvia under “plant products with psychotropic effects”, meaning Kratom is a controlled substance in Latvia.
Lithuania
Kratom and mitragynine are both on Lithuania’s Lists of Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, making the production, processing, acquisition, wholesale or retail trade, storage, transportation within the state, import or export of both substances illegal in the country.
Luxembourg
Kratom, mitragynine, and 7-hydroxymitragynine were classified as psychotropic substances by the Luxembourg minister of health in 2012, making it a controlled substance in the country.
Moldova
Kratom and mitragynine are classified as “narcotic substances and psychotropic substances not used for medical purposes” in Moldova as of 2010 and decision 853.
Norway
According to the Journal of Forensic Sciences, Kratom is either an illegal or controlled substance in Norway.
Poland
According to the Journal of Forensic Sciences, Norway is a European country where Kratom is either an illegal or controlled substance.
Portugal

Myanmar
According to the Journal of Forensic Sciences, Myanmar is a country where Kratom is either illegal or a control substance.
New Zealand
According to the Journal of Forensic Sciences, New Zealand is a country where Kratom is either illegal or a control substance.
Romania
Romania was made a narcotic in Romania under emergency ordinance no. 6 of February 10, 2010, prohibiting trafficking and consumption.
Slovenia
Kratom was classified as an illicit drug by Slovenia in 2019, according to the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia.
Singapore
Mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine are both included in the Misuse of Drugs Act, and classified as First Schedule controlled drugs. Use, distribution, and produce of Kratom is considered a criminal offense in Singapore.
Sweden

United Kingdom
There is no specific Kratom regulation in the UK. However, the Psychoactive Substances Act’s definition of a psychoactive substance, being “[a substance that] is capable of producing a psychoactive effect in a person who consumes it,” would likely include Kratom, therefore making it illegal to sell, buy, produce, import and export. Simple possession of Kratom is not covered under this legislation but possession with the intent to supply is, and the difference would be decided by a court of law.
